A 38-year-old Scott City man is charged with misdemeanor assault after a reported fight Monday with another man.

Scott City police did not arrest Christian M. Fisher, of 801 Hauoli St., on the assault charge, but sent him a summons by mail, according to court documents. He has a March 28 court date in Scott County circuit court.

According to the probable-cause statement, police responded to a call at 415 E. Mississippi St. at about 10:30 p.m.

Fisher was bleeding and being supported by two men in the doorway of a garage at that address, the report said.

Inside, a 31-year-old Scott City man was found lying on the floor. He was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center where he was treated for a broken ankle, the report said. He told police he stabbed Fisher in self-defense after being attacked, according to the report.

A Scott City man called 911 after he reportedly witnessed the altercation.

The man with the broken ankle was initially transported to Scott County Sheriff's Department. A representative from the Scott County prosecutor's office said Friday charges were not filed against him.

Police interviewed Fisher Tuesday at Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was reportedly being treated for a stab wound.

Fisher offered various scenarios of the altercation in which he was stabbed, the report said.
