A suspect is in custody after a 25-minute car chase in Cape Girardeau on Sunday night.
Robert C. Hennecke II, 28, of Scott City was arrested on numerous warrants, including a federal warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service, said Darin Hickey, the Cape Girardeau Police Department's public information officer.
Hennecke is in custody pending formal charges of unlawful possession of a concealed firearm, distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, failure to display plates on a motor vehicle, displaying plates of another vehicle, driving while revoked, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to stop for a steady red light, failure to stop for a stop sign, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, failure to signal and careless and imprudent driving, according to a police report.
Cape Girardeau police spokesman Jason Selzer said officers tried to pull over Hennecke, who was in a white Pontiac Grand Prix at Abbey Road and Kenneth Drive at 5:55 p.m. Sunday for failure to yield.
The driver led police on a chase that lasted until 6:19 p.m. The car was stopped with a spike strip to flatten the tires near Route K and Highway 25.
Police scanner reports indicated the chase throughout the city, including Broadway downtown.
Hennecke has had multiple stints in jail on a variety of charges, from theft to driving while intoxicated to stealing a controlled substance in the 32nd and 33rd judicial circuits, according to online court records.
His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.
