A Scott City home was extensively damaged after a fire that began in a vehicle ripped through the home's garage and attic Sunday night.

Firefighters from Scott City, Chaffee and Scott County responded to a fire at 353 Route M around 11 p.m. and found the home's garage engulfed with the fire moving to the attic, according to a news release. The first police officer on the scene reported that the fire had started in a truck inside the garage, according to the release.

The fire was mostly confined to the roof, according to fire officials. No one was injured.

Because the home was outside the Scott City Water District, firefighters had to bring water to the scene.
