SCOTT CITY -- Members of the Scott City chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America won a number of honors at this year's state conference held April 4-6 in Jefferson City.
The group's parliamentary procedure team won first place for the second year in a row. The team consists of Carrie Cochran, Jennifer Arnold, Amy Holmes, Jennifer Bertrand and Amy Page.
Cochran will be chairing the Missouri team that will be advancing to national competition in Anaheim, Calif., July 1-4. Holmes will also serve on the team, having obtained one of the four highest test scores in this event.
Holmes also placed sixth in business calculations and in the top 10 of Who's Who in FBLA.
In addition to being on the winning parliamentary team, Bertrand also placed seventh in the category of job interview.
Holly Ruth placed first with her Local Chapter Annual Business Report. The winner of this report is considered to have one of the most active chapters in the state. Ruth's report will also be entered in the national competition.
Other winners were: Laura Johnston, second in Shorthand II; Christie Petitt and Jennifer Roth, third in partnership with business project; Amy Bertrand and Teresa Blankenship, fourth in community service project; Sherri Warren and Eric White, seventh in local chapter exhibit; and Amy Bertrand, eighth in economics.
The Scott City chapter received the Award of Merit and recognition for the Reach Out and Care Project, which is given to local chapters that take part in community service projects.
