SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Council endorsed the I-66 project but delayed a decision to financially support it.

Councilwoman Brenda Moyers said she supported the project, but it wasn't in the city's budget.

She said the city's finance committee will consider how much financial support to give the project and present a recommendation at a later council meeting.

The resolution said the council believes the project should be located near here because "no free-flowing, nearby easy-to-use East-West corridor exists."

"I think this resolution will please Walt Wildman," said city administrator John Saxton. Wildman, executive director of the I-66 project, had asked for the city's support on the project last month.

In other business, Saxton said he has been handling some internal situations with employees being sick and leaving.

Public Works Director Harold Uelsmann had heart surgery last month and is recovering at home. Another employee has taken a different job.

Moyers reported the city's finance committee has discussed employees' salaries and job responsibilities. She expects to move quickly on some openings after the first of the year.

Council member LaDonna Phelps reviewed the contract dates the city has with Falcon Cable TV Co. Since the contract was approved last July, Falcon has 19 months, or until Feb. 13, 1996, to meet some of its commitments, she said.

The council decided to advertise for bids for its for an emergency electrical generator for its 911 system. Bids would be opened Dec. 19.
