Two Scott City residents were arrested Saturday after authorities served a search warrant at their residence and discovered the couple allegedly making methamphetamine.
Police said they also found several grams of methamphetamine and more than an ounce of clear fluid that also tested positive for meth in the residence belonging to David L. Kielhofner II and Melissa R. Stepp.
Kielhofner and Stepp were charged Monday with possessing and attempting to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine precursors and two counts of child endangerment.
According to the police department, an active "shake and bake" meth lab was found feet away from where two juveniles were playing a video game.
Kielhofner is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond and Stepp is being held on a $25,000 bond.
Officers with the Scott City Police Department and the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force worked together in the investigation.
