WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- Three people who sought medical treatment after sitting beneath an apparent faulty mercury light during a basketball game at Shawnee High School last week will be reimbursed for their expenses, said the school's principal, John Phillippe.

Phillippe said Tuesday he didn't know how many people were affected by the light.

"We've heard figures ranging from three to eight," he said. "We know of only three people who sought medical relief from discomforts to the eyes, nose and face."

"We don't know what happened, but we have talked with the three people involved this week," he said. "We have offered to pay their medical costs. If there are others who were affected we want to talk with them."

He said the mercury light had been replaced.
