The Southeast Missouri State University Choir will team with the Sikeston High School Chamber Choir in presenting its annual Fall/Christmas Concert Thursday.
The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Academic Auditorium.
The first part of the program, presented by the University Choir, will consist of sacred music by Samuel Scheidt, J.S. Bach, Anton Bruckner, M. Thomas Cousins and Rene Clausen. Following will be a performance by the Sikeston High School Chamber Choir under the direction of William Grega.
The final portion of the concert will be presented by the University Choir and will consist of Christmas music ranging from 13th to 20th century. Highlighting the segment will be a performance of the 13th century Christmas processional "Personant Hodie." The processional will be accompanied by organ provided by Shivelbine's Music Store four antiphonal trumpets and percussion.
Composers of other Christmas music to be performed will be Victoria, Bach, Nicholas Zangius and contemporary American composers Kirke Mechem, Gary Garcia and Brent Pierce.
John Egbert, coordinator of choral and vocal studies at Southeast, is the director of the University Choir.
Admission to the concert is free with a University I.D. General admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for senior citizens and students under 12.
The University Choir's next major concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in Academic Auditorium when the choir will join the Choral Union and the University Orchestra in a performance of Bach's D Major "Magnificat."
