The Cape Girardeau Board of Education will meet today at noon to discuss hiring an architectural firm to begin the planning process for construction of new school buildings.
Also on the agenda is approval of non-resident tuition rates.
A representative of architectural firm The Christner Partnership, Inc., of St. Louis, was in town Tuesday to talk with Superintendent Neyland Clark. The architect also spoke to teachers at the opening of a school ceremony held Tuesday.
The school board has said it is interested in constructing new buildings and has tentatively set an April 1993 date to present a bond issue to voters.
The recommended tuition rates are Kindergarten, $1,676; grades 1-8, $3,352; grades 9-12, $4,437. Last year's rates were kindergarten, $1,382; grades 1-8, $2,764; grades 9-12, $4,364.
