School board approves hiring of building administrators

The Cape Girardeau school board unanimously approved the hiring of two building administrators for the coming school year, superintendent Dr. David Scala announced Tuesday.

The board on Monday night hired Carla Fee as director of the Alternative Education Center and Rex Crosnoe as assistant principal for the middle school. Both Fee and Crosnoe live in Cape Girardeau.

Fee, an instructor at the Alternative Education Center, previously taught at Central Junior High School.

Crosnoe currently teaches at the Jackson Junior High School.

Fee was chosen from among seven applicants. Crosnoe was selected from among more than 30 applicants, Scala said.

Both Fee and Crosnoe officially will begin their new jobs in August, he said.

Building administrators work on 11-month contracts from August through June, officials said.

Fee replaces Mike Dorris, who directed the Alternative Education Center for the last five years. Dorris resigned because he and his family were relocating to Kalamazoo, Mich. The move was prompted by his wife, Sahar, in the health-care agency where she works.

Crosnoe replaces Debbie Followell as assistant principal. The school board earlier this year voted to replace Followell and principal Frank Ellis. The board action came upon the recommendation of the superintendent.
