Out of the 128 scholarships awarded by Procter & Gamble, three are children of Cape Girardeau P&G employees.
Bryan W. Daume, a 1996 graduate of Cape Central High School, was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Latin Club, while playing soccer, tennis, basketball and participating in the band. He was in Who's Who in American High School Students, received a Scholar Athlete Award, achieved the Rotary Top Ten Percent and placed in numerous events as a contestant in SEMO Math Field Days.
Daume has also received a Bright Flight Scholarship, Miner's Scholarship, UMR Quality Scholarship, UMR Ceramic Engineering Scholarship and UMR University Scholarship.
Daume plans to attend the University of Missouri-Rolla in the fall, working toward a degree in Ceramic Engineering. Daume is the son of Wayne and Rebecca Daume of Cape Girardeau.
Michelle Eby, salutatorian of Delta High School, was active in Future Business Leaders of America, Future Homemakers of America, Science Club, Pep Club and cheerleading. She plans to work at Procter & Gamble this summer and attend Southeast Missouri State University in the fall, majoring in education. She was also a recipient of the President's Scholarship from Southeast. She is the daughter of Mike and Sheila Eby of Whitewater.
Matthew S. Rubel, 1996 graduate of Notre Dame High School, was active in Student Council, varsity basketball, varsity baseball, Spirit Club, the school musical and intramurals as well as being a member of the National Honor Society. Additional honors include Academic All-State, Bright Flight Scholarship, Elk's Student of the Month, Breakfast Optimist Student of the Week, Bulldog Award and Second-Team All State Basketball.
Rubel will be attending Maryville University in the fall, majoring in physical therapy. Rubel is the son of Robert and Bonnie Rubel of Cape Girardeau.
