The newest section of the Schnucks Supercenter expansion in Cape Girardeau was unveiled Tuesday.
The new section houses the store's wine and spirits department; a pharmacy, with a drive-in window; frozen foods and health-care items.
The pharmacy drive-up will open Friday, said store manager Dennis Marchi.
"We're still involved in expansion construction," said Marchi. "There's a lot of work going on behind the black curtains in the store. We don't have a completion target date but things are moving ASAP and we're hopeful of wrapping things up within a couple of months."
The new addition was added at the south end of the existing 55,000-square-foot Schnucks store, 119 S. Kingshighway, adding 12,000 square feet to create space for some new and expanded departments.
The remodeled store will introduce features that respond to changing customer lifestyles requiring convenient, ready-made food items that include a gourmet dine-in area. The store also will include an expanded fresh-produce department, expanded deli, bakery, meat and seafood departments.
The store has taken on a new look inside and out.
