NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- The public is invited to a mortgage-burning party to be held Saturday at Schindler's Tavern.
The party is being held 7 1/2 years after Brenda Schwepker bought the venerable watering hole and restaurant, which is more than 100 years old and in 1967 sponsored the state champion fast-pitch softball team.
Free food, including Boston butt and homemade bratwurst, will be served beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The New Stars Horizon Singers will begin performing at 6 p.m.
