ST. LOUIS The St. Louis district office of the Small Business Administration is seeking nominations throughout eastern Missouri for Small Business Person of the Year-1993 and Small Business Advocates in various business categories.
Special activities at the community, state, and national levels will be scheduled to honor the winner of the awards during National Small Business Week in May.
The 30th annual celebration of National Small Business Week, based on the theme "Small Business: Building America's Future," will take place in early May. Men and women who play a vital role building communities and the economy will be spotlighted throughout the week.
The St. Louis celebration is one of the outstanding small business events of the year, said Bob Andrews, director of SBA's St. Louis office.
Andrews announced the selection of Judith E. Meador, publisher and editor of the St. Louis Small Business Monthly, as chairperson of the 1993 Small Business Week Planning Committee. Meador was chosen as the Small Business Advocate in Missouri in 1991. She has served on the planning committee for several years.
Any individual or organization dedicated to the support of the small-business community may submit nominations for Small Business Person of the Year and Advocacy Awards of the Year in categories of minority small business, women in business, veteran, accountant, financial services, and media; and special awards for small-business exporter, young entrepreneur, and entrepreneurial success.
Deadline for nominations is Nov. 16. Details may be obtained by calling SBA at (314) 539-6600. Nominations should be submitted to LaVerne Johnson at SBA's St. Louis district office, 815 Olive Street, Room 242, St. Louis, Mo. 63101.
