Recognizing that many low-income families and food pantries lost food supplies to spoilage, the Salvation Army purchased more than 35,000 hot, nutritious meals per day, distributing them at fixed sites beginning at lunchtime. Meals were prepared by volunteers from the Southern Baptist Mission Board.
