The Salvation Army will collect new fans throughout July to help those in need stay cool during the summer, according to a news release.

The organization expects to see more than 300 people seeking help in finding relief from high temperatures and already has a list of almost 70 people waiting to receive a fan, the release said.

"Last year, with the community's support, we were able to help serve more than 300 people with fans to beat the heat," Capt. Bridgette Amick said in the news release. "If giving a fan helps bring someone relief in this weather, then as a community, we can feel good about helping others beat the heat."
