The July payment, representing sales tax collections reported to the Missouri Department of Revenue in June, was $529,500, a 7.2 percent decline from the $571,171 received in July 2007. Overall during the first seven months of the year, the county has received $3.24 million in general revenue sales taxes, compared to $3.32 million in the same seven months of 2007.

The figures for the most part do not reflect spending from government-issued stimulus checks because sales tax payments to the state typically occur several weeks after the taxable sales occur.
