BENTON, Mo. -- Scott County officials are hoping lean times are behind them. "Sales tax received for the month is up $14,000 from last year," County Commissioner Dennis Ziegenhorn said Tuesday after the regular county commission meeting.

As sales tax received by the county typically reflects the month or two before, "our best months are yet to come," he added. "We just had a tremendous rodeo in Sikeston [Mo.]. ... Normally, Septembers are good as they include a lot of the rodeo activity."
