Safe contents taken in Cape Girardeau home burglary

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is investigating a reported burglary last Wednesday at 906 Ranney Ave. involving the theft of the contents of a safe and other items.

Jewelry, personal information and documents, clothing, collectible items and electronics of an undetermined value were stolen from the home, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department. A family member of the homeowner contacted police Wednesday after stopping by to check on the home while the owners were out of town and discovering someone had entered the home, he said.

No suspects had been arrested Monday and investigators have not linked the incident to other crimes, though detectives will take that possibility into account, Hickey said.
