A spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol said Nussbaum turned her southbound passenger car into the path of Pinkerton's northbound pickup truck.

She was wearing a seat belt. Pinkerton was not.

The fatality was the 80th in Missouri Highway Patrol Troop E this year, eight more than at the same time last year.
