JACKSON - A Cape Girardeau County man was killed Saturday when the farm tractor he was operating overturned on his farm near Highway 61 north of Jackson.
Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Carpenter identified the victim as Dr. Donald R. Reimer, 57, of Jackson Route 4. The accident occurred at about 11 a.m.
The death has been ruled accidental.
Carpenter said Reimer and his son, Rob, were working near the barn on the elder Reimer's farm when the accident occurred.
"Apparently Mr. Reimer was operating the tractor on a slope near the barn when it overturned, pinning him beneath the tractor," said Carpenter. "The victim's son was working nearby and heard his father start the tractor, then heard it stop suddenly and went to investigate."
Carpenter said sheriff's deputies assisted the son in lifting the tractor off Reimer and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Reimer was transported by air ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was pronounced dead at 12:11 p.m.
The body was taken to McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
