A sponsor is needed to operate a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Scott and Cape Girardeau counties, said Pat Willis, acting state director of ACTION, the federal domestic volunteer agency.
ACTION wants to expand services into this area.
RSVP "gives retired people over 60 the chance to share the skills they have learned over a lifetime by becoming volunteers in their communities," said Willis.
Public and private not-for-profit groups are eligible to become RSVP sponsors. A sponsoring agency is required to employ and supervise a project director, establish an independent advisory council, find assignments for volunteers and recruit and supervise the RSVP Volunteers.
