Roy Harold Smith of Marquand passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at the family home. He was 84 years of age. He was born Nov. 9, 1939, to William Ferdinand "Bill" and Gladys Ilene Johnson Smith in Patton.
He married Nona Faye Baker on Aug. 23, 1968. He was blessed with two children, Derrick and Jennifer, and two beautiful granddaughters, Brooklynn and Autumn.
Roy was a farmer for 55 years and worked with his brother, Don, in Smith Construction for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Smith of the home; son, Derrick (Sarah) Smith of Barnhart; daughter, Jennifer (Jerry) Holt of Jackson; two granddaughters, Brooklynn Smith of Barnhart and Autumn Holt of Jackson; two brothers: Kenneth Smith of Sedgewickville and Don (Karen) Smith of Millersville; and two sisters, Faye (Harold) Sides of Millersville and Doris (Harlan) Smothers of Gordonville.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Sharon Smith.
Visitation and funeral services for Roy were held Friday, Jan. 26, at Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Officiating the funeral service was Brother Don Estes. Burial followed in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
