The Cape Girardeau and Jackson Rotary Clubs are offering two scholarships for the 1997-98 school year.
The Ambassadorial Scholarship, worth $22,000, pays for a 9-month stay in another country while the student attends college there. The student may select from five colleges but the Rotary Foundation makes the final decision.
The student is expected to become an ambassador of goodwill from the United States to the host country.
Applicants must have completed three years of university course work before applying. Rotarians and relatives are not eligible.
A second scholarship, the University Teacher Grant, is worth $10,000 and covers travel, living expenses and other costs for three to five months.
Applicants, who must be on a college or university faculty, teach in an underdeveloped country. Teaching begins after May 1, 1997. Both Rotarians and non-Rotarians are eligible.
For more information about the scholarships, call William E. Port at 334-1429.
