JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will perform its last concert of the season in the band shell at City Park at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Special guests for the concert will be the contemporary gospel duo Roger and Ruth Lane, who have performed extensively in the St. Louis area.
Ruth Lane is a graduate of Jackson High School and native of Oak Ridge. She works as a registered nurse for the Jackson R-2 School District. Roger is a graduate of Fox High School and works at Union Electric.
The Lanes will perform "Via Dolorosa," "Household of Faith" and "My Tribute."
The instrumental portion of the concert will include "The Blue and the Gray," "Tin Pan Alley," "Dixieland Bash," marches such as Sousa's "Free Lance," "Gulliver's Marsi," and a woodwind feature "Waggery for Woodwinds."
The Jackson Municipal Band will perform three more times this summer. On Aug. 8, the band will perform at the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse gazebo. At 7 p.m. Aug. 13, it will perform at Jackson Homecomers. And on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m., the Jackson band will join the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band for a joint performance in the band shell at Capaha Park.
Thursday night's concert is free.
