Work begins today on the Whitener box-culvert project, and the city cautions motorists to watch out for road closures in the area.
The project consists of installing a box culvert near the intersection of Independence Street, Silver Springs Road and Whitener Street.
Traffic on Independence will remain open, but road closures are expected on Silver Springs between Independence and Whitener. The part of Silver Springs south of Independence will remain open, but access may be limited at times to certain right or left turns.
Nip Kelley Equipment Co. will be working on the project, which is expected to take about five months to finish, weather permitting.
