The Riverside Regional Library now has access to First Search World Cat. that will take you to more than 4 million listings of books and other materials found in libraries around the world. These catalog records represent 400 languages and covers a time span dating back to the 11th century.

The Jackson Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. June 4. at the library. The group is reading "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte and "The Green Mile" by Stephen King.

People interested in joining the group or starting a group should call the library.

The group meets the first Monday of the month.

Sign-up for Riverside's Summer Reading Program -- 2001 Places to Go -- for children begins June 5. There will be free programs at all the branches.

In the adult fiction category, the library has added "Hawk O'Toole's Hostage" by Sandra Brown, "Thrill!" by Jackie Collins, "The Empty Chair" by Jeffery Deaver, "A Knight in Shining Armor" by Jude Deveraux, "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant, "A Magical Christmas" by Heather Graham, "A Common Life: The Wedding Story" (The Mitford Years book 6) by Jan Karon, "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" by Terry McMillan, "Dream Country" by Luanne Rice, "Family Album" by Danielle Steel, "Heartbeat" by Danielle Steel and "Cold Paradise" by Stuart Woods.

A new mystery title is "A Free Man of Color" by Barbara Hambly.

In science fiction, the library has added "A Game of Thrones" (A song of ice and fire, book 1) by George R.R. Martin.

Several large print fiction and nonfiction books have been added. In the fiction category, new titles are "Devilish" by Jo Beverley, "Fasting, Feasting" by Anita Desai, "City of God" by E.L. Doctorow, "Angel Falls" by Kristin Hannah, "Assassins" (Left Behind book 6) by Tim LaHaye, "The Houseguest" by Agnes Rossi and "The Bonesetter's Daughter" by Amy Tan.

In nonfiction, the title "Life Strategies" by Phillip C. McGraw has been added.

New adult nonfiction titles added are "KISS Guide to Managing Your Career" (Keep It Simple series) by Ken Lawson, "Seabiscuit: An American Legend" by Laura Hillenbrand, "God Save the Sweet Potato Queens" by Jill Connor Browne, "The Sweet Potato Queen's Book of Love" by Jill Connor Browne, "Walking the Bible" by Bruce Feiler, "The Trail of Tears Across Missouri" by Joan Gilbert and "Influential First Ladies (History Makers) by Sherri Peel Taylor.

The biography "American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City Bombing" by Lou Michel has also been added.

Reference titles added this month are American Religions by Gordon J. Melton, The Most Valuable Personal Legal Forms You'll Ever Need (Legal Survival Guides) by Mark Warda, The B Student's (or lower) Complete Scholarship Book, The Complete Scholarship Book (3rd ed.) and Chronology of World History (4 vols) by H.E.L. The library offers in-house Internet and e-mail access. People using the Internet must sign an agreement to the library's acceptable use policy.

The six Riverside branches are at 204 S. Union St., Jackson; 800 City Park Drive, Perryville; 66 Poplar St., Altenburg; 2016 Main St., Scott City; U.S. 61, Benton; and 120 Mountain St., Oran.

The library's monthly publication is "Currents," a listing of the latest materials added to the library's collection.
