It's been known as a rivalry, but the postseason bragging rights have been one-sided. The Cardinals have won 11 World Series titles, and have reached the National League Championship Series each of the last four years. The Cubs have not won the World Series since 1908, a fact Cards fans punctuate with Cubs fans. The Cubs are hoping to end their curse, and not only win the World Series, but knock off their nemesis, the Cardinals, while doing so. We caught up with a few local fans to get their thoughts on the series.
Hometown: Ellington, Missouri
Cardinals
My real prediction is that the Cardinals are going to make it, but it is going to be tougher than they want it to be.
My level is almost none because I know they are going to make it.
Never hear the end of it.
I'm just going to watch when I can. I usually work at night.
Hometown: Du Quoin, Illinois
Cubs
I think it's going to be 3-2 and they are going to play all 5.
My heart is racing. I, like, cried in the middle of Applebee's yesterday. I'm nervous, but I think they can do it.
Cry, literally cry and laugh at my brother.
I'm going to the game on Saturday.
Hometown: St. Louis
Cardinals
That Cardinals win the series 3-2.
Let's give an 8, because if they lose to the Cubs, that's a big no-no, that makes us look pretty bad.
Be very disappointed, but always remain a Cardinals fan.
Maybe go to Hotshots with some buddies.
Hometown: Cape Girardeau
Cubs
I think it's going to go all five games, and Cubs 3-2.
I'm really indifferent I'm probably like a three or four.
Take my husband on a trip to Chicago to celebrate.
My husband has a man cave and a big 60-inch screen. We'll be there watching T.V., popping popcorn and inviting friends over.
