Ricks is a 1990 masters degree recipient from Southeast Missouri State University. The internship is part of the training for the "Minority Management Training in Rural Eldercare Service Delivery."

She will work with the Lincoln University Cooperative Extension "Bootheel Initiative Project" to help older African-Americans by identifying and recognizing the symptoms of diabetes and hypertension and other health problems.
