Kenny Richardson, a sixth-grader at St. Vincent de Paul School in Cape Girardeau, repeated as a state math champion at the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics state finals May 1.

Richardson won the first place trophy in sixth-grade math concepts at the state competition. He also finished seventh in problem solving. Last year, Richardson won first place at the state finals in fifth-grade math concepts.

This year and last year, he was eligible for the state finals after placing first in both math concepts and problem solving at the annual regional Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics held on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.

Richardson is the son of Ken and Debbie Richardson of Cape Girardeau.
