A restricted burn order that was issued a week ago was lifted Thursday by the Cape Girardeau County Commission following heavy rains on Wednesday.
The order had been in place because the dry conditions the area was experiencing created a major fire threat. The county government announced via news release during the meeting that commissioners had voted to lift the order.
The National Weather Service recorded 3.61 inches of rain at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport on Wednesday.
