Emergency officials held out little hope that anyone had survived the accident Sunday at the Baikonur cosmodrome in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan. An eight-man construction brigade was on the roof of the 260-foot-tall hangar when it caved in. The hangar was still cordoned off Monday because of fears that the walls could collapse.
