The University Orchestra will open the concert with a performance of the symphonic composition, "Farandole" by the French composer Georges Bizet.

The University Orchestra also will perform two concerto selections, featuring student soloists Kristine Springer, flute, and David Bohnert, trumpet. Springer and Bohnert are two of this year's four student Concerto Competition winners.

Springer will perform the "Flute Concerto in G Major" by Carl Stamitz, an 18th Century German composer. Bohnert will perform the "Trumpet Concerto in D Major" by Georg Philipp Telemann, a noted Baroque composer. Both concerto performances will be accompanied by the orchestra.

Following a brief intermission, the orchestra, Choral Union and University Choir will combine to perform John Rutter's "Requiem." The "Requiem" combines Latin and English texts, is composed of seven movements and is scored for choir, orchestra and soprano soloists.
