Republican gubernatorial candidate Spence to be in Cape Girardeau

The Cape Girardeau County Republican Women will host Republican candidate for Missouri governor Dave Spence on Friday.

Spence, a businessman who until recently was the president of Alpha Packaging, is running for the chance to face incumbent Democrat Gov. Jay Nixon in November. Spence faces John D. Weiler, Bill Randles and Fred Sauer in the Aug. 7 primary.

The event happens at noon at Dexter Bar-B-Que, 236 S. Broadview St., in Cape Girardeau. The meeting is open to the public.
