JACKSON -- A three-time sex offender was arrested in a bathroom of Wal-Mart after allegedly invading the privacy of a 12-year-old boy.
Lloyd Carroll Jr., 38, of Chaffee was arrested July 17 after he allegedly peered over a wall into a bathroom stall the boy was using. Carroll, who has a history of inappropriate behavior with 12-to-14-year-old boys, was charged with misdemeanors of invasion of privacy and trespassing.
Wal-Mart banned Carroll from its premises April 3, 1995, after an incident involving a 14-year-old boy in the electronics department. Court records show Carroll placed his hand on the boy's buttocks while the boy was browsing. Carroll pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to 15 days in the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
Carroll also pleaded guilty to two counts of false imprisonment and one count of assault in 1991 in a case that involved three teen-age boys. Carroll was arrested at West Park Mall on April 6, 1991, after tricking the boys into a bathroom and making them undress.
Carroll had followed the boys into the mall from Venture, then accused them of stealing from the store. According to the victims' statements, Carroll posed as a security guard.
Carroll told the three boys that he was going to search them and led them to a nearby bathroom. There he told them to undress while he watched. He never touched the boys and after they put their clothes back on he said they could leave.
Court records show Carroll was charged with three counts of misdemeanor false imprisonment and two counts of assault. He pleaded to three of those charges and was sentenced to six months in the county jail.
On Jan. 9, 1990, Carroll was arrested in Arena Park where he had offered money to two boys for sexual favors. The boys, 12 and 13, reported the incident to police.
Carroll pleaded guilty to prostitution on Jan. 29, 1990, and was sentenced to two years probation. As a part of that probation he was ordered to complete a sex-offender counseling program at Bootheel Medical Center.
