RENTAL FIRM OPENS IN JACKSON

JACKSON -- American Linens Supply Co. has opened a textile rental business in Jackson.

"We rent uniforms, mops, welcome mats, table linens, flatwork sheets and towels and a number of other items," said Donna Ballard, sales manager of the local distribution center at Route PP and Dogwood. "We cover a wide area including Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky."

American Linens Supply Co. is a 104-year-old, family-owned corporation headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn.

"The corporation has operations throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe," said Ballard. Among them are operations at Springfield and Kansas City, Mo., and Jackson, Tenn.

Gordon Simpson is manager of the Jackson center, which employs nine people.

"We're just a distribution center now," said Ballard. "We receive and distribute our products here."

The firm constructed the distribution center on a two-acre tract and has an option on an adjoining three acres. A commercial laundry may be constructed adjacent to the center, which would result in additional employment of up to 25 people.
