Winter Bible Study at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau with Dr. David May of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan. The topic is the gospel of John. The study continues Sunday morning at the church. For information, phone 335-6006.

Sunday

Jazz celebration at 10:45 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Jerry Ford Band and soloist Lori Shaffer. The church will hold its traditional worship at 8 a.m. and the Summit at 9:30 a.m.

Hanover Lutheran Church will hold a "United Sunday" service at 10 a.m. There is no 7:45 a.m. service that day. A potluck lunch will follow the service.

Concert of sacred music at 4 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville.

Author Ergun Caner will speak about his book "Unveiling Islam" at 5 p.m. at Lynwood Baptist Church. Caner was raised in a Muslim family but converted to Christianity. He is a professor at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Monday

Young at Hearts meets at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Wednesday

Mass celebrations at 6 and 10:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson.

Ash Wednesday dinner and service at 5:45 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau. The service will kick off the Lenten series on the "weapons of the crucifixion." Several guest pastors will speak during the Lenten lesson series.

Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Ash Wednesday worship at noon and 7 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The services will include imposition of ashes and communion.

First Presbyterian Church in Jackson holds a Lenten midweek service at 7 p.m. The theme for the weekly service is "The shadow of the cross." For information, call 243-4265.

Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau.

Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church. Sermon will focus on the film "The Passion of the Christ."

Westminster Presbyterian Church will begin a six-week Lenten study on "Basic Christianity." A soup dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the study is at 6:30 p.m. For information, call 334-4344.

Ash Wednesday service at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville with Communion and imposition of ashes.

"The Story We Tell" film will be shown at noon at Crisp Hall, room 125 at Southeast Missouri State University. The movie will be shown again at 6 p.m. Feb. 29 at First Baptist Church and is part of a community conversation about race relations and civil rights.
