Pre-anniversary service set by Greater Dimension

Greater Dimension Ministries and church in Cape Girardeau will celebrate its anniversary with a service prior to the event. Guest speaker Ronnie Web, pastor of Mount Calvary Powerhouse Church of God in Poplar Bluff, will speak during the 6 p.m. service today.

Cape church plans homecoming weekend

Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau is planning a homecoming weekend today and Sunday.

Activities include an open house and tour of the church, parsonage and Sunday school building, with tours beginning at 1 p.m. today. At 2 p.m., there will be a video presentation of the church's past activities and a historical display. There will be a youth rally from 6 to 7 p.m.

Sunday worship at 10:45 a.m. will include recognition of past and present ministers, led by the Rev. Jim Cooper, pastor.

Presbyterian church presents film to public

Westminster Presbyterian Church will present movie night at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Worldwide Pictures film "Eye of the Storm" will be shown.

The film is suitable for all ages, and the public is invited.

Revival services planned by Baptist church

Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau will hold a revival Sunday through Friday with evangelist David Young and his music team.

Young will teach in the Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday and will preach at the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. worship services.

Weeknight services will begin at 7 p.m.

Fall conference set at Heartland church

Christ Church of the Heartland will hold a "life in the spirit" fall conference Wednesday through Saturday. Guest speakers are the Rev. and Mrs. Steve Sampson. They will speak at 7 p.m. each evening.

New youth director at First Presbyterian

Jo Marroco has joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau as a part-time youth director.

Marroco previously was youth director at First Presbyterian Church in Union, Mo., before moving to Cape Girardeau. He began work at the church Sept. 1.

Gospel group to perform in Ullin on Sept. 13

The Gabriels will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Leona Brust Civic Center in Ullin, Ill. The concert is part of activities for Cache River Days in Ullin Park.

A gospel concert will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the park. Performances by groups like Pickin' Pennies, New Harmony, St. John Praise and Worship and Sharon Wilson are planned.

Both events are free.

Biker Sunday coming to Sandusky church

Sandusky, Ill., Community Church will hold a Biker Sunday service at 2 p.m. Sept. 14. Special guests will be the Blood Bought Bikers motorcycle group. All motorcyclists and enthusiasts are welcome.

There will be a luncheon and bike display before the service.

Hill of Peace reunion slated for Sept. 14

Former members of Peace Lutheran Church in Friedenberg, Mo., will gather at 3 p.m. on Sept. 14 for a reunion.

The church, known today as "Hill of Peace," is preserved as a reminder of the German heritage of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. A reunion service is held each year for descendants of the area's settlers, former students of the parish school and church members.

The service includes a guest speaker and refreshments. Speaker is the Rev. Edward F. Melchior, who served as minister of homebound for the Peace congregation in Lemay. He serves as a vacancy pastor for Crosstown and Farrar congregations as well.

Student disciple course starts at New McKendree

New McKendree United Methodist Church will present a student disciple course this fall. The class will meet for 34 lessons and is open to students from ninth grade through juniors in college. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday mornings.

The class will begin Sept. 20 at the church. There are a limited amount of openings for the class.

Church of Christ plans women's event

The Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau will plan a ladies day called "Women of Courage."

The event will be Oct. 4 at the church, with a breakfast and lunch. Guest speaker Marie Clary will lead sessions. Discussion groups are planned. Reservations are needed by Sept. 20.

Moms in Touch to hold prayer seminar

Moms in Touch will hold a prayer seminar Sept. 20 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

The seminar will include guest speaker Lori Buechler, Missouri state coordinator for the organization. Events begin at 11 a.m. and conclude by 2 p.m.

Reservations are requested by Friday. Cost is $5 per person and includes lunch.
