Church to hold prayer service for military
Mount Auburn Christian Church will hold its monthly prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday for those serving in the military and their families. U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson and state Rep. Jason Crowell will be guest speakers. Carly Schneider, a high school freshman who has a brother-in-law deployed with the National Guard, will sing. American Legion Post 63 will present the colors. Shiloh Baptist plans gospel singing service
VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Shiloh Baptist Church will present the Gloryroad Travelers and Pickin' Pennies for a gospel singing service at 7 p.m. Aug. 7.
First Presbyterian planning end-of-summer activities
First Presbyterian Church is planning several upcoming activities to end the summer. A fish fry will be held Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The last "Lemonade on the Lawn" will be Aug. 22.
Lynwood Baptist Church to hold Gothard seminar
Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau will hold the basic Gothard seminar class Aug. 9 to 14. The seminar covers principles for how to address anger and establish harmony in the family. A children's program is available also. For information, call Eric or Carolyn Preumer at 335-8173.
Methodist churches to hold revival in Daisy
DAISY, Mo. -- The New Salem-Old Salem United Methodist churches are holding revival services at the New Salem church beginning Tuesday. Services are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and include a dinner. Other services through Friday will be at 7 p.m. Speakers include the Revs. Jim Cooper of Cape Girardeau, Virgil Bunch of Advance and Jimmie Corbin of Jackson.

Missionary to speak during visit here
Sister Mary Christopher Ibegwam of the Christian Hospital in Kenya, Africa, will be visiting Cape Girardeau Aug. 13 to 22. Her visit hosts are Dr. Dan B. and Polly Cotner, who worked with her during Rotary trips to Kenya. She has been serving recently at the Immaculate Heart Convent in Minneapolis with a program that aids the homeless. During her visit, she will speak at churches and to civic clubs. She is scheduled to speak at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 20 at Chateau Girardeau in the Assisted Living center and at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 at First Presbyterian Church.
