The congregation of Cornerstone Church in Cape Girardeau will be the site for "Trumpets of Fire" with Larry Herron at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Herron is an accomplished trumpetist, soloist and guitarist and will lead the patriotic presentation.

Church of God pastor begins new series

The First Church of God in Cape Girardeau is beginning a new five-week series entitled "Why Would A Good God Allow Suffering?"

The lesson series will be held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday.

West Side Church sets date for VBS

WestSide Church of God will hold its vacation Bible school July 15 to 19 for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

The sessions will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. The theme is "Kingdom Kids."

Deaf ministry Sunday emphasis at church

Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel will host a special emphasis Sunday on deaf ministries.

The Rev. Rodney Rynearson, former director of the deaf ministry program for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, will be the speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service. He will use sign language for the hearing impaired and several members of the deaf community in the region will participate in the service.

The Rev. Barry Pfanstiel, pastor at Good Shepherd, said the church has been providing signed worship services for several months.

"The hearing impaired who are worshipping with us have added so much excitement to our congregation," Pfanstiel said.

A potluck dinner will be held after the worship service. The public is invited to attend.

Rivermen Quartet to perform in Jackson

First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mo., will host a gospel concert at 7 p.m. with the Rivermen Quartet.

The Rivermen are from the Jackson area and began traveling to area churches to perform in March. They sing a variety of southern Gospel music.

The members of the quartet are Bruce Marrs, Charlie Brown, Doug Thornton and Steve Daume.

There is no admission for this concert.

Lynwood has Judgement House planned for July

Lynwood Baptist Church will present its Judgement House walk-through drama, July 24 to 27.

The drama is typically presented in October at the church.

Judgement House is a drama played out in a series of rooms that the audience walks through. As a tour participant, you follow the lives of an American family who meets with tragedy and death.

Reservation passes are available for pick up July 15 and 16. No reservations will be taken by phone or mail. There is a limit of 10 passes per person and a donation of $2 is requested for each pass. Tours will run from 7 to 10 p.m. each night and a limited number of walk-in spaces will be available.
