Jackson First Baptist Church gets new pastor

The Rev. Carter Frey has become the new pastor at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Frey had been serving as interim minister since October. He previously was the minister of education for the church. During his career, he has served in six churches including Jackson and has been a youth pastor, minister of education, associate pastor and worked in administration. He is a native of Colorado, attended Wayland Baptist University and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Linda, have two sons.

Cowboy Church to add Sunday service

The Cape County Cowboy Church will add a Sunday worship time beginning June 6. The mission congregation meets at the Fruitland Livestock Barn each week. Pastor Jim Matthews will soon become full-time minister for the congregation. He has resigned his post as pastor at Red Star Baptist Church to devote time and energy to the new church. More than 500 people recently attended a spring round-up service the church held at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. Usual weekly attendance is 300 people or more.

Churches unite for vacation Bible school

First Presbyterian and Christ Episcopal churches in downtown Cape Girardeau will join for a "Jesus in the Neighborhood" vacation Bible school beginning June 1. Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to attend. Sessions will be held at First Presbyterian Church. Times are from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 1 and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 2 and 3.

First Pentecostal Church plans walk at park

First Pentecostal Church in Jackson will hold a "walk through the park" event from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday at the Safety City area of the city park. There will be skits, crafts and Bible stories.

Jackson church to hold anniversary services

The Church of Jesus Christ in Jackson will hold anniversary services at 7 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m., 2 and 7 p.m. May 29 and at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 30. For information, call 204-7761.
