Women's club luncheon to be held at Elks Lodge

The Christian Women's Club will hold a buffet luncheon at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 14 at the Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge. The theme of the luncheon will be "Finding Treasures." A special feature, Plant Lady's Corner, will teach about beautiful houseplants and their care. Elizabeth Hooker will provided special music and Helen Fisher of Holt's Summit, Mo., will be guest speaker. For reservations, call 243-2866.

Good Shepherd to hold open house March 13

Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel has completed renovation and will hold an open house on March 13. A single worship service sanctuary and organ dedication will be held at 10 a.m. following by an open house and organ recital featuring Kenton Oexman at 1:30 p.m.

Third Street, Hobbs Chapel UMC merge

On Feb. 27, Third Street and Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Churches met with district superintendent Steve Breon and voted to merge the two churches. The congregation from Third Street joins the congregation at Hobbs Chapel. Third Street has been in existence for many years and some of its members attended the old church for 50 to 60 years.

Wild game and fish for dinner in Fruitland

The Fruitland Community Church will hold a free wild game dinner and fish fry at noon on March 12. There will be an archery contest for youths at 10 a.m. with trophies and ribbons by age divisions, and a demonstration by Rodney Huffman, a 2004 world champion bow shooter. The guest speaker at the dinner will be David McGill from ProVision Productions.

Revival services begin March 13 in Jackson

The Church of Jesus Christ, 721 County Road 316, Jackson, is holding revival services with Leslie Hart from Indiana at 6 p.m. March 13; 7 p.m. March 14 through 19; and at 6 p.m. on March 20. For more information, call 204-7761

Gospel quartet to hold anniversary singing

The Rivermen Quartet third anniversary singing will be at 6:30 p.m. March 12 at First Baptist Church in Dexter, Mo. Other singers include Ann Downing from Hendersonville, Tenn., and The Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet from Lynchburg, Va. Easter pageant scheduled at Jackson First Baptist

Jackson First Baptist Church will present "The Word," an Easter pageant, at 7 p.m. March 16 through 20. Tickets are available at the church office, The Way, County Mart, Gospeland and Schnucks.

Open house, reception at Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau will dedicate its renovated sanctuary, administrative wing, kitchen and youth ministry area at 10 a.m. March 13. In addition, the congregation has purchased a digital organ that will also be dedicated at this time. An open house and reception will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At 1:30 there will be a sacred concert on the new organ.

An eggs-ellent day for children to have fun

Centenary United Methodist Church will hold its Easter "Egg"stravaganza at 1 p.m. March 19 at Cape County Park South. All children up to fifth grade are invited to attend and bring their Easter baskets.
