The First Tuesday Noon Worship and Prayer meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m. March 2 at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Churches to join to celebrate Lent services

St. Mark Lutheran Church ELCA and Christ Episcopal Church will hold shared Lenten services every Wednesday during March. The services will be at 7 p.m. at St. Mark Church. Holy Week services will be held at both churches.

Youths to participate in 30-hour fast

Youths from La Croix United Methodist church will participate in a 30-hour fast Feb. 27 and 28 to learn what hunger feels like. During the 30 hours, the youths will participate in Bible studies and service projects. They will accept donations for the time and donate the money raised to charities that eliminate hunger.

New pastor comes to West Side Church of God

West Side Church of God will welcome a new pastor, Jeremy Clayton, Feb. 29. The 10:30 a.m. service that week will be followed by a dinner. Clayton and his wife, Dana, previously lived in Augusta, Kan. He is a graduate of Mid-American University in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Cape County Christian women's group to meet

The Cape Girardeau County Christian Women's Club will meet at 11 a.m. March 8 at Port Cape Girardeau. The speaker is Vicki Lynn Pearson of Bartlett, Tenn., with music by Cheryl Fortner. For reservations or child care, contact Bonnie Macke at 243-2866.

Catholic bishop to visit St. Joseph parish

Bishop John J. Leibrecht of the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese will visit St. Joseph parish in Scott City Feb. 28 to March 1. He will celebrate Mass during the weekend services and will meet 19 candidates for confirmation.

Westminster to hold leadership seminar

Westminster Presbyterian Church will hold a leadership training seminar Feb. 28 with Ron Bennett of The Navigators. The seminar is sponsored by several area churches and is open to the community. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Topics include discipling others and a leadership training for small group leaders. here is a fee, and lunch is included in the seminars. Gospel musician to perform in Anna

Gospel recording artist Jim Worthing will perform at 10 a.m. Feb. 29 at the United Methodist Church of Anna. His newest album, "Revived," is being played on European radio.
