New pastor coming to First Christian Church
The Rev. Dr. David Felty is the new pastor of First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau.
Felty will officially take his new position during a service at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 26.
He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky at Lexington's theological seminary and the University of Virginia. He has served as pastor of college-town churches in Ohio and Alabama and as a campus minister in Nebraska, Arizona and Virginia. He taught college courses in Kentucky.
Sanctity of Life Sunday declared for Jan. 19
The Rev. John J. Leibrecht, bishop of the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Catholic Diocese, has designated Jan. 19 as Sanctity of Life Sunday in observance of the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade. A prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Cemetery of the Innocents on Siemers Drive. A reception will follow at Drury Inn Suites. Contact Keesee if you are interested in attending the March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 22. The event is a national observance held on the anniversary of the court's decision. A bus will be leaving from Springfield, Mo., on Jan. 21 and returning on Jan. 23. Cost of the trip is $120.
Guest speaker planned at Scott City church
Mike Ahmed will be the guest speaker at Father's Arms Fellowship church in Scott City on Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2. He will speak during the 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. worship services that weekend. For information, call the church at 264-2105.
Nazarene camp meeting set for Sikeston
A weeklong camp meeting is being planned Tuesday through Jan. 19 at First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. nightly and at 2:30 p.m. on the weekend, and several area churches are participating.
Children's rallies also are planned. Youth rallies will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and again Jan. 18.
The SEMO Indoor Campmeeting is based on the theme "Preaching scriptural holiness to a new generation." Evangelist for the week is the Rev. Chuck Milhuff. Chad and Rachel Ozee will lead music. Leader for the children's services is the Rev. Dan Spears. The Rev. Greg Gilberto will lead the youth services.

New class scheduled at Grace Bible Church
Grace Bible Evangelical Free Church will begin a new teaching series on Wednesdays on "The Rapture, The Tribulation and the Second Coming." The Rev. Daniel Runkle will lead the sessions. The series will offer some definitions and terminology used in the study of eschatology as well as views of three conservative evangelical Christian views.
The church is at 5303 Old Cape Road East near Interstate 55 and Kingshighway.
