La Croix Church changes worship times
La Croix United Methodist Church will change its worship times beginning this weekend. Services will be at 5:30 p.m. today and at 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday.
Seminar for clergy to be held in Cape Wednesday
A seminar on preaching and communication will be held via satellite from noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Cape Girardeau. The seminar is hosted by the International Congress on Preaching in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the magazine Ministry.
Participants can register by calling 339-1910. The seminar is free, and pastors, chaplains and lay leaders are invited to participate. Speakers include chaplains for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Senate, pastors and professors.
Memorial service at St. Francis chapel set
The Pastoral Care department at St. Francis Medical Center will host a memorial service for people to remember their loved one. The service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Please call 331-5118 to RSVP or to provide the name of a relative you would like remembered during the service.
Refreshments will be provided after the service.
Baptist women to gather for state meeting
Baptist women from around Missouri will gather Friday and Saturday at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, Mo., for the annual Women's Missionary Union meeting.
The theme is "I Stand Amazed." Speakers include Sarah Standerfer Groves. Participants also will have opportunity for ministry and training sessions. Some options include working at a food bank and thrift store, cleaning at the Baptist Student Center or touring a missionary-in-residence home. Some will prepare materials for the Crossover St. Louis evangelism event that will take place in early June before the Southern Baptist Convention meeting.
Special music will be provided by the Missouri Music Women, a group of women who serve in a music ministry capacity at their churches around the state.

Leadership seminar to be hosted at St. Andrew
Best-selling author John C. Maxwell will be joined by guest speakers Dennis Waitley and Lou Holtz during a simulcast downlink April 27 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Waitley is author of "The Psychology of Winning," and Holtz is coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The seminar will help equip churches to become a resource to business leaders and build a bridge in the business community. The focus will be on the principles outlined in Maxwell's book "Becoming a Person of Influence."
Arrangements can be made for up to 100 people to attend. There is a $10 fee that can be paid at the door.

Benefit concert planned by youth next Saturday
The youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will perform a musical at 6 p.m. April 13. The concert is "From Cumorah's Hill."
Donations, preferably of macaroni and cheese boxed dinners, will be given to FISH. Youth from Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Mo., and surrounding communities have been practicing for the event since January.
Dedication scheduled for Metropolitan Church
The Metropolitan Community Church will host a building dedication for its new worship center after the 11 a.m. service April 14.
The church purchased the building at 833 N. Spanish St. and has been renovating it since September. The Rev. Neal O. Zeilinger is interim pastor.
Churches jointly sponsor women's conference

St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Cape Bible Chapel are jointly sponsoring a women's conference April 27 with speaker Becky Tirabassi.
The event will be at Cape Bible Chapel. Admission is $25; an optional boxed lunch is $6 additional. Registration should be sent to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
The event is from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
