The Relay for Life fund raiser for the American Cancer Society held Friday night and Saturday morning at Capaha Park raised more than $40,000.

Twenty-seven teams and more than 400 people participated in the event, in which at least one member of each team remained running from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m.

The top fund-raising team, Jim's team, raised $2,415, while the top individual, Shelly Gerard of the Ya Yas for Life, accumulated $1,200.
