All Missourians who plan to vote Nov. 8 must be registered by today to participate in the general election.
Registered voters who have changed their addresses have until Oct. 19 to notify their county election authorities to be eligible to vote Nov. 8.
Registrations and changes of addresses may be done at county clerks' offices in area courthouses.
Cape Girardeau County Clerk Rodney Miller said his office has just finished a 10-day campaign on voter registration. His office had registration operations at various locations around the county to make it easier to register.
Miller estimated the total number of registered voters in Cape Girardeau County to be 36,000.
Miller said people wanting to register can visit the county clerk's office in the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse in Jackson or the annex to Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau. Both offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today to handle registrations.
In addition, they may also register until 6 p.m. today at the Cape Girardeau Public Library and Riverside Regional Library in Jackson.
In Scott County, County Clerk Bob Kielhofner also has made registration available at 10 city halls, three school superintendents' offices, the Perkins Post Office and through Bob Depro in the social studies department of Sikeston public schools.
The county clerk's office at the Scott County Courthouse in Benton is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kielhofner said Scott County residents may call his office in Benton at 545-3549 for registration locations.
