Leadership Cape to give presentations at coffee
The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly First Friday Coffee at the Show Me Center this week. This month's event will feature presentations from the latest class of Leadership Cape. The program will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday, after a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. While the chamber makes every attempt to end the program at 8:30, the chamber said Friday's event may run a little longer.
The Cape Girardeau Board of Education will hold an open house on Aug. 25 for the public and school staff to meet with Dr. David Scala, the district's new superintendent. The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in room 110 at the Career and Technology Center, 1080 S. Silver Springs Road.
A send-off for 80 National Guard soldiers headed to Iraq will be held at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the National Guard armory at 2626 Independence St. The soldiers will train at Fort Riley, Kan., before their final deployment. U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Cape Girardeau, will be among the speakers at the ceremony.
