A 15-year-old Perryville, Mo., girl was injured at 11:45 p.m. Monday in a one-car accident on Bollinger County Route J, 12 miles northeast of Fredericktown. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Amy Hendrix, a passenger in a car driven by 16-year-old Michelle Bingham of Fredericktown, was ejected when Bingham's 1999 Ford ran off the left side of the road and overturned. She was flown to Children's Hospital in St. Louis for treatment of moderate injuries. Bingham was taken by ambulance to the Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown with minor injuries.

Holden appoints Jacob to lead labor commission

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Two weeks after losing a primary race for lieutenant governor, Sen. Ken Jacob has lined up a new job. Gov. Bob Holden has appointed Jacob, a Columbia Democrat, to serve as chairman of the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission. The position is a full-time job, and current commissioners make a salary of about $94,000, according to the state manual. The commission hears appeals in workers' compensation, unemployment compensation and crime victims' compensation cases.
