Soccer player killed when goal collapses
ST. LOUIS -- A teenage soccer player died when a portable metal soccer goal fell on him at a park in St. Louis, authorities said Tuesday. The accident happened Monday at Wilmore Park in the St. Louis Hills area of the city. Police said Karrar Abudarb, 19, was playing soccer with about a dozen friends when he grabbed a crossbar and swung from it, causing the goal to fall forward. Police spokesman Richard Wilkes said the crossbar struck Abudarb's head and crushed his skull. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two charged with robbery in Sikeston
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Anthony Tobias, 18, and Martell S. King, 18, both of Sikeston, have been formally charged with armed robbery and armed criminal action in connection with a weekend robbery in Sikeston, according to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. The robbery occurred at the Murray Lane Mini-Mart about 7 p.m. Sunday. An employee was allegedly held up at gunpoint while counting out money in the register. An officer saw two suspects flee the scene, and they were later arrested based on a description the officer gave of the vehicle. Tobias and King are being held at the Scott County Jail on $100,000 bond each. Police continue to search for a third robbery suspect associated with the crime.

Trash pick-up to be early for some Cape residents
Garbage collection normally done Thursdays has been moved to today for this week only, to allow for the Thanksgiving holiday, when city offices are closed. Cape Girardeau residents living east of Kingshighway and south of Broadway should put trash out by the curb today. The regular schedule resumes next week.
